We specializes in advanced rim repair, refurbishments, custom-built rims & powder coating services tailored for commercial trucks & heavy-duty applications. Our comprehensive range of services includes hole repairs, leak repairs, dent repairs, bent or buckled rims & durable powder coating solutions for truck rims.

Processes

Our Rim Engineering processes ensure that every rim we handle is restored to peak performance & durability.

Shot Blasting

Rims are meticulously shot blasted to remove rust or previous coatings, preparing them for powder coating.

Specialized Repairs

For damaged rims, we employ advanced repair techniques such as welding and stress testing. We utilize MPI Crack Detection (Magnetic Particle Inspection), a non-destructive testing method for identifying surface and shallow cracks in metals. This process creates a magnetic field within the part, and any cracks cause the magnetic flux to leak, appearing as a visible coloured line. Once identified, the cracks are marked and repaired in-house, ensuring the structural integrity of the rim before proceeding.

SAW (Submerged-Arc Welding)

This welding process involves creating an arc between a continuously fed electrode, either solid or cored, under a blanket of powder flux. The flux generates a protective gas shield and slag, protecting the weld area while potentially adding alloying elements. No external shielding gas is required, as the arc is submerged beneath the flux, ensuring a robust weld.

CNC 3-Axis Milling

Our 3-axis CNC machines allow us to custom manufacture rims and other components with precise control of RPM speed and 3D positioning. With automated tool changes, we can accurately machine rims of varying sizes, offsets, and hole patterns, ensuring tailored solutions for different vehicle requirements.

Vertical Boring

With a vertical boring machine featuring a 1600mm bed, we can machine both the internal and external diameters of large industrial and mining rims. This allows us to create or repair small to oversized rims (up to 63 inches) with precision, catering to both standard and custom specifications.

Powder Coating

This process offers a superior finish compared to traditional spray painting. The powder is applied electrostatically, ensuring even distribution and preventing product build-up, which enhances the tyre’s fit on the rim. The powder is then cured by heat, resulting in a more durable and environmentally friendly finish. Powder coating is a greener option, as unused powder can be recycled, and no volatile organic compounds are released into the atmosphere. Standard colours are available, and custom colours can be arranged upon request.

OTR Rims

Off-the-road (OTR) rims, used primarily in mining, undergo a more rigorous process to ensure their durability in extreme conditions. After inspection and any necessary repairs, the rims are powder coated and subjected to a final quality check before being returned to the customer.
By extending the life of rims through our eco-friendly & cost-effective repair methods, we help minimize waste and promote sustainability. Our practices meet or exceed industry standards for safety and quality.
