Processes
Shot Blasting
Rims are meticulously shot blasted to remove rust or previous coatings, preparing them for powder coating.
Specialized Repairs
For damaged rims, we employ advanced repair techniques such as welding and stress testing. We utilize MPI Crack Detection (Magnetic Particle Inspection), a non-destructive testing method for identifying surface and shallow cracks in metals. This process creates a magnetic field within the part, and any cracks cause the magnetic flux to leak, appearing as a visible coloured line. Once identified, the cracks are marked and repaired in-house, ensuring the structural integrity of the rim before proceeding.
SAW (Submerged-Arc Welding)
This welding process involves creating an arc between a continuously fed electrode, either solid or cored, under a blanket of powder flux. The flux generates a protective gas shield and slag, protecting the weld area while potentially adding alloying elements. No external shielding gas is required, as the arc is submerged beneath the flux, ensuring a robust weld.

Vertical Boring
With a vertical boring machine featuring a 1600mm bed, we can machine both the internal and external diameters of large industrial and mining rims. This allows us to create or repair small to oversized rims (up to 63 inches) with precision, catering to both standard and custom specifications.
